Styrassic Park tells the story of creatures ranging from the coelacanth to the bulbous triceratops to the Tyrannosaurus \u2013 the king of the dinosaurs. Some of them are brought to life during the tour. At 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., the living dinosaur is let out of its cave!<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n

Over 100 handcrafted life’s works<\/h2>\n

They require a little more care, but are all the more impressive for it: our handcrafted, one-of-a-kind pieces are not made of plastic, but of solid concrete! A quarter of a century ago, artists Thomas Stern and Boris Tverdochlib set themselves a special mission: they wanted to create lifelike, life-size dinosaurs. But how do you recreate something that has been extinct for millions of years? Their solution: with scientific meticulousness. Using sketches and research findings from the Natural History Museum in Berlin, Thomas and Boris began, bone by bone, claw by claw, to make the unimaginable tangible. Inside every dinosaur lies a sturdy steel framework \u2013 the supporting skeleton. In a process often lasting months, concrete is applied in layers, shaped and refined. Skin textures, scales, muscles, claws \u2013 until raw material is transformed into a deceptively lifelike prehistoric creature. Today, 28 years later, there are now over 100 of these extraordinary dinosaurs at Styrassic Park in Bad Gleichenberg.\r\n<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

A girl. A mountain. A discovery that rewrites prehistory.<\/h2>\n

In the spring of 2024, 15-year-old Lina discovers something incredible while hiking in the mountains of Scotland: fossilised bones in the middle of a rock face. What she found turned out to be a previously unknown pterosaur! This find was reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology at Styrassic Park \u2013 today, the life-size, animatronic model of the prehistoric flyer hovers among the trees of the park. \r\n<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Prehistoric giant Gigantor Raptor!<\/h2>\n

A creature straight out of a fantasy film \u2013 3.5 metres tall, 8 metres long. It’s hard to believe that this flightless prehistoric giant actually existed. The only specimen found to date was discovered in Mongolia and, apart from casts, it is not exhibited in any museum in the world. You won’t find the original bones here at Styrassic Park either, but you will find a life-size replica created by our Ukrainian artist, Boris Tverdochlib. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n

The heirs of the dinosaurs!<\/h2>\n

66 million years ago, a meteorite wiped out the dinosaurs, but the planet recovered quickly. The new living conditions opened up space for those animals that had not had an easy time of it among the gigantic dinosaurs. \r\nSnow and cold did not bother them \u2013 the age of mammals<\/b> had dawned, and here at Styrassic Park, the diversity of the Ice Age is brought to life. You can imagine how our ancestors once hunted mammoths, and if you dare, you can look a sabre-toothed tiger straight in the eye.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

7 million years of human history!<\/h2>\n

Approximately 7 million years lie between the upright gait of a hominid in Africa and the internet as we know it today. In between lies an incredible story \u2013 evolution in its purest form. From group formation to the discovery of fire, the use of tools and the creation of cave paintings, we bring it all to life in the park as if you were there yourself. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n
